A MOTORCYCLIST has been brazenly shot in the leg while his bike was parked in Ipswich by a passing gunman, before riding home to raise the alarm.

The 31-year-old man was parked at the Bundamba truck weighing station, on the Warrego Highway, about 6.30pm Tuesday when a car pulled up and he was shot in the leg.

The small white sedan then sped off.

Ipswich Police said it was unclear what type of gun was used and what the motive for the attack was.

The motorcyclist rode home and his girlfriend took him to Ipswich Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
